About The McMillan Bar and Chop House
Great value for money steak and wine deal, both were excellent.
Lovely last minute dinner date.
Contemporary bar and kitchen in Shawlands
The McMillan is a contemporary bar and chop house on Pollokshaws Road in the heart of Shawlands. A family-run business, it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week. A sleek mix of cosy booths, red leather seating and smart wood panelling, The McMillan is a good looking space. The sophisticated interior lends itself equally well to a business meeting, morning coffees, lunch with friends or a romantic dinner.
Scottish ingredients, global flavours
While there are plenty of vegetarian options and seafood dishes, such as Mull scallops, on The McMillan menus, pride of place goes to the meat-based choices. In particular, the steaks from local master butcher John Davidson deserve special mention. Aged on the bone, they are available as eight or twelve ounce rib-eyes, sirloins and fillets, all served with your choice of fries, chips or mash plus a Diane sauce, pepper sauce or garlic and herb butter. Other carnivorous delights include a selection of ribs, burgers, bacon joints and the mighty McMillan mixed grill.
Dishes like the Cullen skink or the glazed smoked haddock and Parmesan omelette are classics. Others, such as the pan-fried sea bream fillet with pickled greens and asparagus purée have more exotic roots. Whether you want a simple breakfast roll, a keenly priced lunch or a Chateaubriand steak dinner with all the trimmings, the kitchen brigade at The McMillan are happy to provide.
A diverse cocktail menu; a high quality wine list and a range of beers which runs from local craft brews to international favourites complete the picture at The McMillan.
