Curry on the Hill is a family-run Indian restaurant and bar in Thornliebank on Glasgow’s Southside. With three different dining areas and design features which include an indoor fountain, striking contemporary lighting and a fire pit, it is certainly a glamorous venue. The aim is to offer something for everyone. Children are entertained at weekends by the magicians and the restaurant mascot while the lounge bar plays host to karaoke nights, DJs, a pub quiz and sports. At the heart if it all is a menu packed with freshly cooked Indian and European dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
As well as a tandoori selection, the menu features all the rogan josh, korma and patia dishes that a curry lover might ask for. Staff recommend the tandoori lamb chops and the special karahi-style bhuna which is flavoured with peppers and onions simmered in a rich and spicy tarka. All the main dishes are available with a choice of meat or seafood such as tender lamb, mince, tikka chicken and Pacific king prawn. Vegetarians are well catered for and, for those who are less keen on curry, there is a range of European dishes such as haddock and chips, chicken burgers, omelettes and the house pizza.
Curry on the Hill is on Bemersyde Avenue in between Thornliebank Road and the A77. Thornliebank train station is around a kilometre away. There are several bus stops leading to Glasgow city centre on Thornliebank Road. The Old House Sports Ground and Hutcheson’s Sports Ground are a brisk ten minute walk. On street parking is plentiful around Curry on the Hill.
