Great food at great prices in a good atmosphere with attentive staff

My sister bought me a voucher for my birthday last week for Bell and Felix and since it was our 27th wedding anniversary we decided to go for some food. I booked the pre theatre menu 2 courses, I emailed prior to ask if the wine included could be exchanged for soft drinks as driving. I never really looked at the bill however they did not charge full price for the soft drinks which was great. We both loved both courses and the food was well presented and plentiful, the waiting staff are friendly and informative without being intrusive, as some places ask you continually are you enjoying your meal which I hate. A pleasant evening with good food, I would highly recommended this restaurant pre theatre menu for both value and quality. I have only been here once before for breakfast with my sister and mum, which was also great, but will look to book again in the future. Thank you.

Scottish café bistro in Shawlands

Bell and Felix is a family-friendly and proudly independent café bistro on Kilmarnock Road in Glasgow’s Southside. Hung with pictures of Glasgow, Bell and Felix features both exposed brick and whitewashed walls. While the interior design is clean and simple, the warm and friendly welcome reflects the venue’s status as a cosy neighbourhood hangout.

Fresh, local produce and home-style cooking

At Bell and Felix, the kitchen likes to use local and seasonally sourced ingredients and they prep and cook as much as they can in-house. The emphasis is on simple recipes and home-style comfort food. A slight Italian influence peeps through in dishes like the salmon and pea risotto which appears from time to time on the specials.

During the day, it is all about colourful salads, ciabatta and sandwich fillings, daily changing soups, tarts and quiches which reflect the seasons. Top quality tea and coffee are a given while the superb range of cakes always make choosing just one fairly tricky.

In the evenings, the changing menus might offer a starter of fresh goat cheese with walnut salad followed by a Thai style king prawn curry, roast chicken or the Bell and Felix burger. There are always specials and a catch of the day like the monkfish and chorizo risotto topped with a chimmi churri sauce.

Shawlands transport links and attractions
