Booked afternoon tea. Friendly welcome, seated quickly. Tea arrived first, then the cakes & "sandwiches"? I was surprised to find that there were no sandwiches but in fact the following: Half a wrap with beetroot, chickpeas and cheese? A "third" of a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese, and finally a small section of a seeded baguette with anchovies, chicken and salad. Not exactly what I was expecting but thought oh well, we'll give it a go. The wrap was dry and hard at the edges and the fact the filling was completely dry did not help. The bagel was hard, the salmon was ok and finally the seeded roll thing was completely inedible. My colleague could not eat it as he was scared his teeth would break so I offered to cut into bite sized pieces with a knife and fork and found I couldn't! It was brick hard. We ate some of the filling from inside. On to the cakes, most were quite nice, especially the lemon drizzle and victoria sponge (mini sized) but again the scones were very hard and completely broke up when trying to put jam and cream on. On advising the waitress that the sandwiches were inedible, she totally ignored my comment and asked if I wanted to take the cakes away with me. Hello?...I just said the sandwiches were inedible! Very disappointed as it is a lovely environment, especially on a nice day like today. A waste of £21.90.
