Thought would give a new place a go.. Good welcome on arrival, nice table at the window, however had to be moved a the window benches are far too high for the table and the chairs far too low..Moved to slightly better table on next level, however the area is too jam packed with no room for the staff to access the tables because chairs have no space behind them to manouvre, felt like a tin of sardines..sorry to say.
Small wine included in deal, I asked if I could have a large one and pay the difference and was informed this was not possible, trying to work out why has really confused me. Lack of wine list was poor as they were still at the printers.
Soup was excellent, disappointly long wait for the main. I made a trip to the ladies whilst waiting and waiting and could smell strong burning. On return and checking where our meal was, we were told the pizza got burnt..embarrassing!!. After cooking of another pizza which was OK and delivery of my main of chicken which was also fine apart from the braised leek being very overcooked to near sogginess and also slighlty burnt. I understand this would be due to the pizza delay, however I was just glad I did not pay full menu price for such standard.
It is a great building with lovely original ceilings etc, however I would say it was a bit unfinished as the wooden floor and stairs and corridor to the toilet looked a bit tatty, one handrail was loose. The glass boxes could have been enhanced with nice flowers or something
So I would suggest a rethink of the seating arrangements as anyone of larger proportion would be unable to dine here.
