Semi-regulars at the Corinthian Club my wife and I know the menus well. So when they launched a revised menu recently we were keen to try and enjoyed a lovely meal a few weeks ago. Great food and a nice time had. This evening we went back and decided to revisit those same dishes as they had been so nice last time. Sadly things have changed, the dishes in question are changed in both presentation and quality. (1) Dunlop Golden Cross goats cheese, caramelised red onion tat in, rocket salad and cranberry gel - Amazing starter last time, now shrunk down in portion and inexplicably served on a pastry bed which kills the taste mix of goats cheese and fruit sauce. Not good. (2) Inverurie lamb rump, scorched baby gem lettuce, broad beans and peas, salad verde - Finely chopped and served in a rich fish sauce with generous mix of beans, salad and white fish pieces last time, now 2 simply cuts of fatty lamb served with a sprinkle of peas and burned lettuce. No fish sauce, no fish bits. Lamb was also not cooked as requested (was rare as opposed to well done). Overall a major disappointment and fell way short of what the Corinthian is capable off. Terrible shame as it s lovely place when things go right.
