An honest attempt at authentic cuccina paisana. Hearty starter of olive oil -soaked and cooked mushroom salad was followed by a somewhat over-savoured veal dish of the day. This was described as "medallion" by the waiter but turned out to be vitello macinato -or a veal burger served with a very rich but peppery gravy. However, it was accompanied by a tower of arborio rice, beautifully cooked, that absorbed most of the fire. Was it good enough to tempt us on to the a la carte? Yes, but Qua is off the beaten track unless you are an habitue of the Merchant City and the performance was perhaps short of that required to tempt West-end(or even City centre) diners to make the trip.
