Rating Reasonable Pre-Theatre deal (Rating 4.0/5)
We were looking for a deal somewhere in the Merchant City and neither of us had tried Mharsanta yet. It was quite quiet on a weekday evening, which didn’t really bother us, though it meant there wasn’t much ‘atmosphere’. The food was good value - I had the mussels to start which were really excellent (fresh, plump and delicious!). We both chose a main comprising pan fried sea-bass with a broad bean stew and celeriac chips. We both asked for ordinary chips, not fancying the celeriac, and the waitress was happy to accommodate our request. The fish was lovely, but the broad bean stew, while perfectly acceptable, wasn’t what I’d expected. It was a tomato-based stew, so the flavour of the broad beans (which I love) was masked, and that was a bit disappointing. It also rather overpowered the fish. Nevertheless, it was well-cooked and nicely presented. I would go back.
