    Go and Enjoy.

My wife and I attended for our anniversary and on arrival, we were immediately welcomed and shown to our table. Drinks were served within 2/3 minutes. I chose the chicken shashlik and my wife chose chicken Kiev but was told that it takes at least 30 minutes to prepare so she then chose the same as me. Our starters were lovely and our main course was excellent. I would go back in a heartbeat.

    Definitely going back

First time trying Russian cuisine. Absolutely loved the Rye Bread Borscht Bowl! So tasty, hearty and filling. Great portion size. We also had the lamb shashlik which was cooked to perfection, lamb was very tasty and tender. My hubby recommends the honey cake which was light and fluffy layers, meaning it wasn’t too heavy after his meal. Throw in plenty of cocktails, & the vodka shot board, and you have a truly great experience. Staff where very attentive, service was fast and atmosphere was cosy and relaxed.

Russian restaurant in Merchant City

Cafe Cossachok has a distinctly bohemian feel with it’s rustic heavy wood tables and walls simply painted in red and hung with a few pictures. It regularly plays host to live music with everything from jazz to acoustic country to singing Russian school children and there’s a small gallery, which is lovely to peruse between courses or after your meal.

Authentic Russian/Baltic cuisine

The menu is Russian/Eastern European and features authentic classics like moreish blinis, wholesome borscht and creamy stroganoff (beef or chicken) cooked the way you wish you could make it yourself. As well as this there plenty of culinary surprises from Tzimes (described as ‘quite simply, duck to die for’) to juicy roasted peppers stuffed with rice and ground pork or vegetables. The home-made pickles are the perfect nibbles while you’re deliberating over the menu, and look out for the home made coleslaw that comes with many of the dishes, it’s amazing.
