Red Sky Bar within Radisson RED Review

  • Rating Wonderful view pity food didn’t come up to scratch (Rating 3.0/5)
The Red Sky Bar certainly offers one of Glasgow’s finest views. Fabulous view taking in many of Glasgow’s landmarks. The hotel itself is very modern. Lots of modern artwork on display and the selfie screen in the foyer wall make the hotel feel bright and fun. On entering the hotel we asked where the Sky Bar was located on the 9th floor. What they neglected to say was that there is a specific lift that takes you directly there we found this out by chance. On entering the Sky Bar the fist thing you see is the magnificent view from the floor to ceiling windows. It’s worth the visit for this alone. The next thing you notice is that your feet stick to the floor with every step you take. This is the same through the whole bar and toilet area. The floor looks clean enough but the wrong cleaning product is being used which is leaving a sticky residue. Not pleasant. I see this has been mentioned in other reviews. We were there for afternoon tea with Prosecco or cocktail. We were not told what the cocktails on offer were by our server and had to ask for our tea which arrived long after food was served. Actual food was a poor unappetising display. I’ve had afternoon tea at numerous establishments in Glasgow some more expensive and some less but this was for me disappointing. The staff although friendly and approachable seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves and looking out the window. Various customers had to try and catch their attention not always successfully. I would definitely go back to the Red Sky Bar for drinks and the fantastic view but not afternoon tea. Hopefully they will sort out the sticky floor situation. The staff must be aware of it if they are working there all day. It is very off putting it gives the impression that the place is not clean.
