Booked through 5pm for the £8.95 for two courses pp menu; the menu was available on 5pm until 5pm, via the booking system the only available time slot was 5pm, so we opted for that.
Turned up at the restaurant 10 mins early and we were seated immediately and given menus. Our order wasn't taken for 15 minutes, despite the restaurant being quiet. Waited for 20 mins for our bottle of prosecco to arrive and had to ask twice for it.
Food arrived and it was good. Decent portions, tasty. Ordered an espresso coffee, waited 15 mins on it. Asked for the bill, had to ask again as 10 mins later, still no bill. When the bill finally arrived, we'd been charged for £12.95 for 2 courses and not £8.95 as we had booked. I questioned this and was advised that as the order was placed in the kitchen after 5pm, it would be charged at the more expensive price. I complained. The waiter stood his ground, until my complaint grew louder. Finally, he went away and returned with a new bill, no apology simply "would you like to pay by card?"
I felt angry and humiliated. Shockingly poor service OR a clear attempt to dupe customers by false advertising. Very disappointed as this is a restaurant that we attend at least twice a month. We won't be back and we will most definitely make sure other customers are aware of this duplicitous policy in order to dupe customers.
