The Shandon Belles Review

  • Rating Pretty bland really (Rating 2.8/5)
Service was exceptional and the décor beautiful, but the food really lets this place down. To my regret I ordered haggis fritters and got exactly what I could have expected from any grotty chippy. Don't get me wrong, they were presented nicely enough, but they were swimming in grease and were pretty bland and tasteless. My partner ordered whipped honeyed goats cheese with watermelon, which was delicious, so he won on the starters. Main courses were cod and mash with a mornay sauce which was cooked beautifully but lacked flavour, my partner had tomato & chilli meatballs with rice, which also lacked bite. Overall we loved the venue, ambiance and wait staff but were extremely underwhelmed by the food. If you like bland and uninspired meals, then this is the place for you!
