Relaxing afternoon
My husband and I and our friends had a lovely afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed our cream teas. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the scones and macarons were delicious. Extremely good value too.

Elegant city centre lounge bar
Located on the first floor of the five star Kimpton Blythswood Square hotel, The Salon enjoys gorgeous views of the square’s gardens and Georgian terraces. The interior views are just as entrancing. Decked out with chandeliers, Harris Tweed chairs, Ionic columns and a marble bar, it all harks back to a more elegant age. The drinks Bible Class magazine rated it as one of ‘the best bars in the world’ and we’re not going to argue.
Afternoon tea and evening cocktails
The Salon is a cosmopolitan spot for morning coffee, a light lunch, pre-dinner drinks or evening cocktails. As you might expect, there is always Champagne on ice. The afternoon tea is rather special. As well as seasonal menus, the main afternoon tea menu updates regularly. Typical items might be a cornetto of lightly whipped goat’s cheese and truffle or a macaron flavoured with coconut and Koko Kanu rum. The scones are served with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam from Galloway Lodge.
Small plates, gourmet sandwiches, burgers, salads and sharing platters of cheese or charcuterie are also available. Did we mention the bubbles?
Blythswood Square transport and attractions
The Salon is popular for a bite and drinks before shows at The Hydro and the King’s Theatre. There is on-street, pay parking outside while Queen Street and Central train stations are a leisurely fifteen minute stroll.
