About The Green Room - Cathedral House

A wee gem of a place
The Green Room is a wee gem of a place. The building itself is quite beautiful and steeped in Glasgow's history. We were a group of 4 and each of us had exceptional food. I had the garlic prawns to start followed by fish and chips... both absolutely delicious. We ordered a couple of extra rounds on top of The Big Deal which didn't break the bank. The staff are very attentive, especially Andy.

A meal with music!
We enjoyed a lovely meal in very pleasant surroundings with the added bonus of live music! An excellent way to spend the afternoon!

Scottish dining in the city centre
Based in a 19th century building that is now a boutique inn, The Green Room at Cathedral House serves up hearty and traditional Scottish dishes. Boasting Glasgow Cathedral as its backdrop, this former choir practice hall has now been transformed into a charming and elegant café bar. As well as a menu of locally locally sourced, seasonal cuisine, you can sample a selection of beers and ales from local breweries, plus an evolving wine list.
Traditional and seasonal Scottish cuisine
At The Green Room, you can dine on comforting and rustic national classics with a cheffy edge. Menus shift with the calendar, but expect starters such as gin-cured salmon on toasted sourdough with cucumber ribbons & dill mayonnaise; pressed ham hock with red onion marmalade, baby apple and herb toast or oatcakes, and Shetland mussels steamed in Thistly Cross Cider.
Mains on offer might include Macsween haggis with clapshot and buttered greens served with an Arran mustard & whisky sauce; 6oz beef burger with Mull cheddar, chilli relish and hand-cut chips, or vegan ‘Shepherd’s Pie’ with braised puy lentils, roast butternut squash, olive oil mash and seasonal greens.
For pudding, expect indulgences like creme brûlée with raspberry compote and home-style shortbread biscuit or date sponge with salted caramel & vanilla ice cream.
Heart of Glasgow’s most historic area
The Green Room is based in one of the city’s best sightseeing spots. As well as being right next door to the stunning Medieval cathedral, you will also be a stroll away from the 15th century Provand’s Lordship (the oldest house in Glasgow), and the Necropolis with its sweeping views.
