We visited on a busy Friday night and the restaurant was jumping. The full length murals are impressive but the dark mahogany tables, purple decor and chairs smack of a mid market steakhouse. We booked 3 courses on the 5pm offer for £15.95 including a glass of wine, which proved to be good value. The food was pleasant but could be described as hit or miss. Some courses were very good and others disappointing. The starters of salmon and the chicken and chorizo terrine were excellent, but no bread was offered. For mains we had a beautifully cooked breast of Gressingham duck set on lack lustre vegetables and a chicken breast which was overcooked. The puddings were ordinary but the cheeseboard was ginormous, tasty and came with lots of oatcakes and grapes. The staff were friendly but were under pressure and it showed. The restaurant offers a number of steak options and there is a good wine list starting around £21.
