I will start by the positive - the food. Great taste and piping hot, although the appetisers were hardly worth having. On the negative side, what should have been a lovely meal turned into a really negative experience. Service was so fast we hardly got a chance to finish eating when food was cleared and and the next course served, in fact I had to stop them removing garlic bread as we weren’t finished. We were also sitting far too close to the folk on either side of us who, by the way, were also unimpressed. It was so uncomfortable. As we were finishing our mains we could hear staff with a clipboard talking about how to fit folk who were arriving and this led to us getting stared at. Our table was clearly earmarked for someone else who was waiting. We hadn’t even been there for an hour at this stage. We ordered a dessert which we got, but we gave up after that and left without ordering coffee as we felt extremely uncomfortable and definitely unwanted.
I completely appreciate that restaurants are trying to recoup money lost due to the pandemic and that this restaurant is small, however, there was nothing in the booking saying they wanted the table back by a certain time and they also have to understand that a meal out is about more than food. First time in my life that I’ve not left a tip in a restaurant. Very disappointing experience in a restaurant that I had such positive experiences in pre-pandemic.
