Osteria Italiana is an Italian restaurant in the Italian Centre on Glasgow’s John Street. ‘There is no rush’ is the motto around here and the emphasis is on enjoying the warm, Italian hospitality and traditional decor. During the warmer months, the outside dining area is a popular place to sit while away for a couple of hours, dining or enjoying a snack and a couple of after-work drinks.
Freshly prepared ingredients and time-served recipes are the driving forces behind the several menus produced by the kitchen at Osteria Italiana. Diners are invited to nibble on bruschetta, eat a warming bowl of minestrone or tuck into other starters such as the mussels in a white wine sauce. There is a good selection of pasta, pizza and risotto alongside steaks and chicken dishes like the Milanese which features a breaded chicken breast on arrabiata penne. Of course, there are seafood options like spaghetti frutti di mare or seafood risotto as well as a number of variations on the classic burger. Tiramisu, cheesecakes, pastiera Napoletana and a number of sundaes and ice cream treats bring things to a sweet conclusion.
Osteria Italiana is on John Street, less than ten minutes from the train and subway hubs at Queen Street and Central Station. There is pay parking at Ingram and Montrose Street. Nearby attractions include the Fruitmarket and City Halls; the Gallery of Modern Art and the shops of Argyle and Buchanan Street.
