Despite living around the corner from Massimo for 6 years I had never ventured in. I was excited to try a local restaurant to find a new favourite, and overall I wasn't disappointed!
Unfortunately, upon entering myself and my friend encountered, who I can only assume was the manager/owner, giving a loud verbal lesson to one of the waiting staff. After waiting a few minutes we were promptly seated, however the menu wasn't explained to us (what was or was not included in our 5PM Deal). The house wine included in the deal was delicious (both the red and white - as the table beside us gave us their bottle of white as they were not big drinkers!)
The food itself was faultless. Big portions and fresh. My friend had the chicken liver pate crostini, which was spread thickly. And I had a delicious Crustini Caprese. We followed with the salmon pasta (quite cheesy but delicious) and the seafood spaghetti (lots of seafood packed in!).
The only real downside of our meal was that they were EXTREMELY short staffed. Apart from the abrupt and, frankly, unfriendly "senior" staff member, there was only one other waitress. She was absolutely lovely and worked incredibly hard throughout our time there. She appeared to be given every responsibility except for taking the money and pouring drinks.
We would definitely return as the meal was delicious and fab value for money, but probably at a quieter time if this is the usual staffing levels.
I would like to reinforce my point about the lovely little blond waitress who worked tirelessly to make sure everyone had a good night whilst having orders barked at her. She added to our evening. Thank you!
