Laidback bar in Glasgow city centre

Located in Glasgow’s Charing Cross, Liberté is a relaxed hangout with lots of candles and flatteringly subdued lighting. A handsome space, it features deep Chesterfield booths and high ceilings with ornate cornicing. The outdoor decking area at the rear is a sun trap on a summer day. Much like the pavement seating at the front of the bar, it is an excellent space for a laidback lunch or a chilled glass of wine. Liberté is also well located for a refreshing pit stop between the city centre and the West End.

Bubble ‘n’ squeak, burgers, wings and more

The menu at Liberté takes inspiration from all corners of the globe. From bubble and squeak cakes to cheesy polenta chips with chilli jam via Dominican style wings, the starters are a global smorgasbord. While the options change regularly, the main courses tends more towards old faves. Think Scottish beer-battered haddock; steak and ale pie, four cheese macaroni or, if you want to push the boat out, the 28-day aged sirloin steak. Several varieties of burger with multiple topping options mean lots of choice. Desserts include the infamous deep fried Mars bar, ice cream or a rib-sticking toffee pudding.

Central location

Liberté is on North Street, a five minute walk from Charing Cross rail station. It is also close to many bus routes and a five minute walk from a Sauchiehall Street taxi rank. There is some on-street parking. The King’s Theatre and the O2 ABC are a ten minute walk while the SEC and Hydro are a short taxi ride or a twenty minute walk.
