La Lanterna Review

  • Rating Excellent value and genuine Italian (Rating 4.8/5)
A great genuine old fashioned Glasgow Italian restaurant that takes you back. The value for money was outstanding really. The restaurant has an old feel and hasn't been updated for years which gives it charm and warmth. I think a lot of Italian restaurants are becoming very Italian American in their feel and delivery, La Lanterna remains Italian and thankfully no red check tablecloths. Fresh bread and butter as we sat down and a surprise glass of Prosecco included (for booking online). My salad starter had a huge slice of goats cheese and roasted peppers with very fresh dressed leaves. My co-diner had the mushroom bruschetta wich looked very apetising. If anything the portions were too large. Again the mains were substantial although if you enjoy fish and don't eat meat ask them to remove the bacon garnish. And I can't tell you how excited I was (yes, I am that sad) to see proper home made Tiramisu, which had a decent kick to it. It is what it is and I'll be back - you know what you get there!
