Popular city centre Indian restaurant
Located towards the Charing X end of Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street, the Kama Sutra is a long-running and much loved Glasgow Indian restaurant. Although it is named after the famous Indian erotic text, and has demure pictures from the book on the walls, the Kama Sutra focuses on the pleasures of the table.
The restaurant is within walking distance of many great bars and clubs but some choose to make a night of it in the downstairs function suite – home to the Kama Sutra karaoke or kamakaraoke.
Traditional curries & regional specialities
As well as good value lunch and pre-theatre menus, the a la carte at Kama Sutra has a good mix of familiar favourites and exciting regional specialities. Kormas, bhoonas, dhansak and Madras curries are all available with chicken, lamb and prawn while the Taste of India section contains tempting choices such as lamb balti – a dish given a kick by the addition of ground pickles.
As always, the sizzling dishes from the tandoor oven are popular at Kama Sutra. In particular, lots of diners love the kebabi khazana – a medley of BBQ chicken, lamb, king prawns, lamb chops and mince kebab. Among the regional specialities are the spicy Himalayan hotpot and an authentic Bengali fish curry.
Near Charing Cross, taxi ranks nearby
Kama Sutra is wheelchair accessible and has taxi ranks nearby. There are multiple bus stops nearby. Walking to Queen Street or Central train stations will take around fifteen minutes.
