Friends had recommended the Grill on the Corner so armed with a 5pm deal I looked forward to the evening. The staff were lovely, and as requested we had a good table. There were a range of decent wines on offer and the menu looked tempting. My husband was happy with his chicken liver parfait starter and his chicken pot pie. I ordered the poached egg on haddock to start. The egg was excellent but the haddock way overdone and chewy. The steak sandwich looked impressive on arrival but the meat was badly cooked and grizzly with fat. The chips had been cooked too often and were not so much crispy on the outside as hard as bullets. Disappointing.
