This is an annual thing that me and 2 of my friends do at the beginning of December, a Christmas night out before it gets crazy in town. It was just a very bad and strange experience, it became obvious very quickly that this restaurant do not like voucher deals. We arrived at 5.45, and were told that no booking had been received, I handed over my email (and was asked to do so a further 4 times before we left after our meal). The waiter left us standing for 15 minutes, then advised us that we could have a table, but only until 8 o'clock, which was part of the deal anyway. We said at this point that is was fine, we could go elsewhere because it wasn't looking good so far, but he insisted that we waited and would be seated. A glass of prosecco was part of the deal, so when we were standing at the door, still waiting to be seated, he brought us a glass each, which was less than a quarter full. We were then seated, now this is advertised as a Christmas dinner, but there wasn't so much as a cracker on the table, bah humbug! The meal itself was not good, I had the salt cod starter (green mousse that did not taste of fish, quite odd) Jane had savoury Swiss roll which wasn't as described on the menu (no spinach or ricotta in sight), Sarah had the mussels but the 'sauce' only contained lemons. Me and Jane had the turkey, which was advertised as turkey breast filled with spinach wrapped in pancetta but I couldn't find the spinach or pancetta, the potatoes were hard and only 2 chipolatas. Sarah had lasagna which was stone cooled in the middle, they took it away and reheated it. Sarah went 'off menu' and we were charged £3.35 (listed as open bar on the receipt), which under normal circumstances would be fine, but you'd think that given the mix up they may have waived it. When we got the bill they asked to see the voucher again, not sure why. We were asked at the very end of our meal if we enjoyed it, we said no, but the waiter (same guy that had seated us) just sneered at us and walked away.
