So I booked a table here for my Mum's birthday - I was due to travel back to England that evening so we booked a late lunch at a usual favourite. You always know what you're getting at Di Maggios - reliable food and speedy service.
Firstly the server (not sure if it was nerves) was giggling as I told him about my allergies - it's something I'm pretty self-conscious about as it is and he came back to the table twice afterwards to ask my mother if she was allergic - I had to remind him it was I.
Two pizzas were offered on the menu and I went for the less spicy, which was still too spicy-to the point I couldn't eat it. It was actually really disappointing and the cheese and sausage didn't look the freshest- the pizzas are usually lovely here too. It's almost as if the staff couldn't be bothered. We asked them if we could quickly get our desserts as I had to leave (service was really slow despite the lack of custom) and it felt almost intentional that they were so slow - I had to leave and say bye to my mum in the restaurant so I didn't miss my train. Not the goodbye a homesick person ever wants.
I was informed after I left, they had the cheek to add on a 10% service charge. I know this is standard for larger parties, but I think it should die a death - it means staff get complacent.
After maybe 8+ years of coming here, I won't be booking again. Its gone downhill recently and with the ever-increasing competition around, there's far better, friendlier places.
I was so angry with how poor the experience was and still am. Di Maggios needs to rethink it's menus, staff and policies. Not happy.
