Having eaten at Darcy's with two friends every 4 to 6 weeks for the last eight years, following our last visit on Thursday night 28th January 2016 we will not be going back. This is mainly due to the new manager. I received a phone message that day to inform me of the deep fat frier being out of order. This did not worry us.
On arrival we were informed of this once again but were not told that the toilets were out of order. The only provision made was public toilets which at 8.30 we discovered were closed.
The manager was most unhelpful when we were selecting our food from the menu & refused to let us pick a modest change due to no fish (which was one of only 3 dishes on pre fix menu. The other had an extra £4 charge).
We have done this often on previous occasions. This was not handled in a very professional manner. On leaving we discovered that we had been overcharged for drinks and were being charged for the free small glass of wine included in the 5pm deal. Following our complaint to the very nice waitress she returned twice to tell us the manager was not altering the bill and we would just have to pay. This went on for over half an hour, The bill was eventually altered slightly & an explanation of how it was calculated was given. I have to add that we have never seen this restaurant so quiet before. If customers are continually treated in the manner we were treated they will very soon have no customers.
