Rating Shambles (Rating 1.8/5)
Booked 2 courses + drink for £16.00 per head.
Arrived on time, to be told by a young male waiter that the restaurant was full, so they would have to set up a table at the door (not the windows). We advised the waiter that we had booked so should be part of the 'Full' restaurant. The waiter's response was the same as his opening gambit. He then proceeded to set up the table - stealing a chair from another table. At no time did he ask for a name or booking reference. He then told us that the deal involved producing theatre tickets, and was promptly, but politely, made aware of the deal purchased. The only white wine on offer was Chardonnay - no thanks (ABC etc). Given it was pretty much 'Take it or leave it' and the hassle involved in finding an alternative on a Saturday evening, we opted to make the best of it. Sensing our annoyance, the waiter brought a full bottle of Chardonnay for those drinking white wine + a glass of red and a bottle of beer for the others. A further glass of red and a beer was also brought without extra charge. It was clear that there was a severe shortage of staff, and while the young waiter (James) was giving it his all, it made for a less than enjoyable experience. The portions were also very small.
