I've frequented Rogano (upstairs and downstairs) for 40 + years and enjoyed its `uniqueness` and that it's never been tempted to update the very thing that makes it unique.
To support the ambiance, the kitchens have always provided an excellent food standard - but not on Saturday the 19th October.
One of a party of four, I chose the Stornoway black pudding topped with a Duck egg followed by a Lamb dish - the latter being well presented and delicious!
However ,the black pudding was overcooked or re-cooked until it was almost burned and the egg was barely cooked at all!
I didn't complain, fearing to spoil the evening for the others, but I do now!
If the Cafe kitchen doesn't pay attention to the detail presentation and quality of the food, a normally "great night at the Rogano" becomes a cause for doubt about returning anytime soon.
