Bocadillo Bistro a jewel in the Glasgow Food Crown
I was surprised when reading the menu on their website at the unusual combination of ingredients. As I was going for dinner with my "foodie" friend I felt it was different enough to take a chance. What a great decision that was!!!! The Waitress and the Manager were very friendly and it was obvious from their manner nothing was a problem. The restaurant was spotless and the music was great as it was loud enough to hear but we did not have to shout to talk to each other. It was also a pleasant change that it was not chart music. We were shown to our table and within minutes a large jug of water and glasses were on the table - without asking. The menu gives a good description of each tapas dish and I would be amazed if you could not find plenty to tempt your pallette. We opted for the 2 Meat, 3 Fish and 1 Veggie. The Slider Mini Burgers were absolutely amazing and surprisingly very filling. The Scallops, Langoustine Tails and Prawns were all cooked to perfection. The Corned Beef Sausage Roll is made in house and is scrumptious. The Goats Cheese Crostini had a scattering of nuts which complimented the cheese very well. The Manager made us aware of a special which was available - an Australian Shiraz which was vitually half price. This was an excellent choice and was consumed with gusto. I could not resist the temptation of the cheesecake with berries and I selected Tablet Ice Cream on the side. They have around half a dozen flavours of ice cream. My friend opted for an Irish Coffee - she was very pleased and commented she reckoned it was one of the best she has ever had!!!! Praise indeed. This is a fabulous restaurant and well deserves for some more customers to discover it. We will certainly be back soon - to try some of the other tapas. Ideal if attending the Kings Theatre as only a few minutes walk. Do yourself a favour and go pay this eaterie a visit soon before it is discovered by the masses and you cannot get in!!!

Will not remain a hidden gem.
Wanting something different and affordable for a party of eight I decided to try the Bocadillo Bistro because of its quirky menu and reviews. I can only confirm what the previous reviews said about the restaurant. The service was excellent, we were made welcome and felt as if we were valued guests. The ambiance was clean, modern and comfortable. The food was what we all described as excellent, tasty, varied and unusual. I'm still salivating at the Stornoway Black Pudding I had. The wine list and the draught beer was limited, but for a small restaurant it offered something for most tastes. I/we will return soon, we had a wonderful evening.

Cheery Scottish tapas restaurant on Charing Cross
During the day, this Charing Cross venue is mainly used as a lunchtime takeaway. Come the evening, it transforms into the fully licensed Bocadillo Bistro, a vibrant and upbeat restaurant. Located on Sauchiehall Street, it is a relaxed and friendly spot with a great reputation for its cheery staff.
Scottish and Mediterranean tapas
The evening menu at Bocadillo Bistro puts a Scottish twist on the tapas theme. From Stornoway black pudding fritters in a beer batter to mini haggis Scotch eggs, there are plenty of innovative choices. Seafood options, such as battered langoustine tails on crushed peas, are particularly popular.
There is more of a Mediterranean influence to dishes like the Scottish mussels in a spicy Napoli sauce or the rice balls stuffed with pine nuts, butternut squash and sage.
Bocadillo Bistro also has a range of burgers and sliders, or mini-burgers. Options include the steak burger; hot and spicy pulled pork or the breaded rosemary chicken burger.
Charing Cross attractions and transport link
Bocadillo Bistro is at the Charing Cross end of Sauchiehall Street. The nearest railway station is Charing Cross while St Georges Cross is the nearest subway. Kelvingrove Park and the King’s Theatre are within a ten minute walk. Venues such as the SECC and Hydro are a short taxi journey.
