Barolo Grill Review

  • Rating Does not stand up to name (Rating 2.4/5)
First impressions were nice surroundings, looked the part! We had booked the set menu but did ask for a la carte menu which did not differ a great deal. As Italian food lovers we were disappointed and remembered why we had avoided this restaurant previously. I chose the goats cheese and pear starter, which although did not appear to be poached pear as advertised, it was nice. My partner's starter was scallops with beetroot - he felt beetroot did not go well with scallops but that is a personal preference and certainly did not work with him. Main course nothing inspired me so I opted for the vegetable pizza. My other half went for the spaghetti with mixed seafood. Pizza was very soggy in the middle and no real flavours. The spaghetti was fair but was overpowered by the capers which spoiled the dish. We were told there was no clams available for dish and they may have overcompensated with the capers but it certainly did not leave a pleasant taste on the pallet. Overall very disappointing?
