Hadn't been here for a while and loved the new-look dining area - so much brighter. Food and service were up to the usual high standard. Good range of choices and we all enjoyed our selections. Friendly and efficient service too.

Although the restaurant was extremely busy the service we received was top class, when we entered the restaurant and said we had booked on 5pm .com the staff were so helpful and very attentive towards our group x

There were six of us and we has 5 fish and chips and 1 rotisery chicken. The food was served in a reasonable time and it was delishious We also had deserts of sticky toffee pudding and ice cream And also Eton mess also delishious The house wine was of a very good quality I will certainly be tell friends and family to dine in the baby grand xx

Comfortable Charing Cross European restaurant

Baby Grand is a quietly chic piano bar and and restaurant on Elmbank Gardens next to Charing Cross low level train station. Opening from 8am during the week and 10am at weekends, the restaurant is a popular stop for commuters seeking a breakfast or coffee before work or a shopping trip. As the day wears on, Baby Grand caters for lunch diners before theatre-goers and workers begin to arrive for evening meals or a relaxing drink before heading home.

European flavours in stylish surroundings

As the open kitchen at Baby Grand uses plenty of local produce, the menus change accordingly and dishes are often treated with a Continental flair. Breakfast includes staples such as warm croissants with butter and homemade jam, morning rolls, and even a full cooked breakfast with tea or coffee. Ciabattas and the restaurant’s soup of the day are popular fixtures at lunchtime.

Typical dishes on the restaurant’s main menu may include mussels Kilpatrick (steamed mussels in a smoked bacon & Parmesan cream with a hint of Tabasco), beer battered fish & chips with tartare sauce, or halloumi & vegetable skewers with cous cous.

Beside Charing Cross train station, near car park

Baby Grand is right next door to the entrance of Charing Cross lower level train station. Payable parking is available at nearby Elmbank Street car park, with the Kings Theatre just moments away from the restaurant. Taxi ranks and bus stops are also within walking distance.

This Baby Grand afternoon tea is perfect for gin lovers

Forget snowdrops and ribbons or however that song goes, gin and afternoon tea are definitely a few of this blogger’s favourite things. So when Glasgow’s Baby Grand restaurant gave us the triple whammy of news that 1) they were hosting a gin theme afternoon tea 2) they would be giving us a 5pm Big Deal for it and 3) they wanted the 5pm blog to go along and sample it, we were very excited.
