Rating Are we unusual? (Rating 1.6/5)
Led on by good reviews and a good (price) offer, we booked a Celtic Connections menu for 17.30 to give us plenty of time for 19.30 gig start.
Arrived on time. The place was heaving and noisy: supposedly a good sign. Table not ready. Drink. Shown to table at 17.44. Order taken at 17.49. First course arrived just before 18.00. Lovely food.
18.30, some waiting staff became aware main course had not been served.
Apologies. Food arrived about 18.40. More apologies. Accompanying "vegetables" - green and white beans - horribly under-prepared.
Plates cleared from table (no chance to complain further - no time).
No time to eat dessert - coffee instead. More apologies.
Bill: as expected but glass of wine not charged. More apologies.
Just made gig in time.
Don't want apologies, just food. The place was obviously a victim of its own popularity, but couldn't cope with overbooking and lack of no-shows. I'd love to give it another go, but almost certainly won't.
Are we unusual, unlucky or just too old for such a casual approach?
