Went for afternoon tea. The food itself was good. Sandwiches had an unusual twist with one being goats cheese and blackcurrant which was nice to see.
Unfortunately, the service was very poor. We were not welcomed when we arrived and instead had to attract the waitresses' attention at the till where she certainly wasn't busy. From this point we felt that nobody really cared as we were just served mechanically. My wife cannot eat butter on sandwiches but didn't get a chance to ask before they were delivered to the table. Thankfully there was no butter anyway.
We had to remind the waitress that we had a free drink included in the offer. No apology, just delivery of the drinks with no words spoken.
When preparing to leave we didn't need to ask for a bill as it was prepaid. What annoyed us most was the fact that at least two waitresses saw us putting our jackets on but nobody said a thing, even when we passed them at the till they were simply uninterested. However, the waiter on duty did manage to say bye which was something I suppose.
We don't overbearing staff in restaurants and certainly don't like disinterested staff either.
