Having previously visited Barolo Bar and grill (a sister restaurant) our expectations were high. We were however not disappointed. Our £19.95 for 2 courses from the a la carte menu gave us carte blanche to eat pretty much whatever. I chose the scallops for starters and they were perfectly cooked and the grilled pancetta ham gave them a lovely smokiness. Fiona's parma ham with fresh figs and honey was a dish of perfect simplicity!! For mains, I chose the rack of lamb and was advised by our waiter that it would be served pink. Just the way I like it......but by the time it had sat underneath the lights at the pass, the lamb was more cooked than I would have liked, but still perfectly tasty, especially with the thyme and rosemary herb crust. I heard no complaints from Fiona about her perfectly grilled sea bass with saffron risotto.
We shared a bottle of a lovely Valpolicella Classico which, for £23 a bottle, represented good value for money.
Service was great...attentive but not overly obtrusive.
