29 - The Grill At The Square Review

  • Rating a really enjoyable meal: almost perfect! (Rating 4.2/5)
Welcomed at the restaurant entrance and shown to a window table. Waiter was excellent. Attentive without rushing us. A small loaf was brought to the table before the starters. Delicious! So light! The deal was two courses and a glass of wine for £15.95. We had melon and prosciutto to start and the lamb for mains. Both were very good. Asked if we wanted dessert and/or coffee, I said that we would have coffee but after a 'rest' of 5 minutes or so. The waiter was great .... "Certainly, take your time". However after a few more minute another waiter(?) Came along and asked the same thing. I repeated what I had said to our waiter and he left. He returned and asked us to move to the lounge to have our coffee. We couldn't understand why since there were plenty of empty tables and we had only been in the restaurant for 90 minutes. So we decided to get the coffee elsewhere and paid and left. It seemed unnecessary to hustle us to the lounge at 640 pm and marred what had been a lovely meal with excellent service.
