We have been to 29 Grill several times before and also on the 2 for 29 deal. We were a bit disappointed this time that the deal had been dumbed down. Instead of a bottle of wine between us, it was only a glass each (I suppose my fault for not reading the offer properly and noting it had changed). Also, the charge for bread (previously complimentary) was in very small print on the menu so we didn't know when the waiter asked if we wanted bread that we were going to be charged £1 for it. Food was fine, though my friend didn't find her first choice to her taste, and they did change it for her (don't go for the haddock rarebit). Service got quite slow after we had our coffees (not in the deal). We couldn't attract anyone's attention to get our bill so we stopped and asked one of the staff for the bill on our way to the toilet and when we returned to our table it had been cleared and set for the next customers. We had to go and ask for our bill again at the till and settle it there rather than relaxed at our table. Not ideal. I'm not saying I'll never go back again but there are lots of other restaurants with excellent food and good value with better service.
