About The Library
Welcoming Bearden brasserie
The Library is a casual brasserie and grill on Milngavie Road in Bearsden. The building which houses the restaurant was once a public library and the carefully placed books dotted around the interior reference its old life. As well as a mezzanine and sheltered terrace, there is a main dining space on the ground floor. The open plan kitchen means that guests can watch the chefs concentrate on the artful presentation of their dishes.
Aberdeen Angus steaks and more
The Library runs a la carte and market menus plus a Sunday roast. Aberdeen Angus beef, reared in the Highlands and dry aged for 40 days takes pride of place. Seasoned with salt and cooked over a charcoal grill, the beef is available as sirloin, rump, rib-eye and fillet plus sharing cuts such as Chateaubriand and tomahawk. Other main course choices include the beer-battered haddock and chips, wild mushroom risotto, The Library burger and a seared sea bream fillet served with a tarragon and white bean broth.
The starter selection, or Chapter One, as it is called on the menu, includes options such as black pudding Scotch eggs, crispy soft shell crab and buffalo mozzarella with peach, aged balsamic and a mint and chilli dressing. Desserts range from a light cappuccino crème brulée to a steamed marmalade pudding. A selection of dessert cocktails offer a liquid alternative.
