About The Square Bar and Restaurant
Visit every couple of months and never rushed. Great to catch up and eat with friends inside or out.
Can't wait to go back!
My husband & I along with our dog visited this restaurant the other night for the first time, it most certainly will not be our last visit! The food was excellent, I had the fillet steak & my husband had the lamb rump, both of which were cooked perfectly. The staff were very friendly, the three of us were made to feel very welcome 🙂 Excited already for our next visit 😊
Modern Scottish restaurant in West end
Opened in the autumn of 2017, The Square is an independently owned and operated bar and restaurant on Norby Road. Open from morning to late, it is a neighbourhood place where customers can meet friends for a coffee; schedule a working lunch or unwind over dinner and cocktails. Dog-friendly until 4pm, the Square offers visiting pooches a puppaccino and treats. On the last Sunday of every month, human guests can enjoy the talents of the resident vocalist.
Their brand new outdoor terrace is open. This area is fully licensed. Complete with a roof cover, lighting, heating and even free WiFi access.
Local produce, innovative chefs
Using seasonal. Local ingredients, the chefs at The Square offer everything from lunchtime open sandwiches to 40-day dry-aged steaks sourced from the award-winning Rogers Butcher. The menus’ simpler dishes include the burger of the week and the Square macaroni cheese made with a four cheese sauce.
More complex starters might be the seared king scallops with celeriac purée, crispy Parma ham and scallop salt. Or the salad of salt-blacked beets with walnuts, rocket and pickled baby radish. Popular main courses include the roasted chicken breast with carrot purée, rosemary and truffle mash plus whisky sauce or the roasted butternut and Parmesan ravioli. A seafood option might be the fillets of sea bass, sautéed herb potatoes, capers, julienne vegetables, lemon and an orange beurre blanc
