Well-established Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh’s West End

An Edinburgh fixture since opening in 1956, Rendezvous, on Queensferry Street, is one of the capital’s oldest Chinese restaurants. There is usually a bustling ambiance in an upstairs dining room featuring elegant white and red décor and a central bar offering wine and cocktails.

Peking and Cantonese cuisine

Familiar Chinese dishes that have become favourites over the years dominate the menus at Rendezvous, where the house speciality is Peking duck. Daily soups and specials keep the options varied and there are plenty of seafood and vegetarian choices.

Dining options include banquets, featuring dishes such as quick-fried king prawn in chilli sauce and lamb in spring onion. The a la carte menu is extensive, with traditional choices augmented by Thai, Singapore and Lar Chee dishes. Lunch set menus offer favourites such as ribs, curries and Kung Po.

Edinburgh city centre sights and transport

Rendezvous has a city centre West End location on Queensferry Street in Edinburgh. It is a minute’s walk from the tram line and the bus stops on Princes Street. Haymarket station is a ten-minute walk to the west. Princes Street Gardens is a five-minute walk away and the Lyceum, Usher Hall and Traverse Theatres are all within walking distance. There is pay parking nearby on Castle Terrace.
