About Baobab Bar & Eatery
Global street food in the West End
Baobab serves up international dishes with a slight South African twist inspired by the nationality of its owners. Based in the heart of the West End, this cosy bar & eatery offers both table and booth seating, as well as entertainment in the form of a big screen TV. If you fancy a casual dining experience that whisks your tongue around the world in 80-minutes or so, then this would make an excellent choice.
Baobab’s menu is divided into bites & starters, global favourites and grill dishes.
Choices can change, but picks from the starters could include boerewors & bratwurst sausage bites with dips or chutney; vegetable gyoza with soy sauce dip or Baobab nachos.
The favourites section includes several nods to South Africa, such as the chunky lamb bunny chow curry in scooped-out home-baked bread. Other choices include Southern-style buttermilk fried chicken with spicy potato wedges or the beef & bean chilli burrito bowl.
Grill options include sirloin steak with chimichurri sauce or spiced Greek-style lamb gyros wrapped in flatbread. Veggies can tuck into the veggie gyros; mac & cheese or halloumi & roast pepper burger.
All dishes can be accompanied by a wide choice of drinks that includes craft beers, cask ales, gins, wines and cocktails.
