Good city centre lunch venue with fabulous service

This was my first time at Angel's Share, and I booked based solely on the excellent value lunch offer and the central location. It's a typical glam city centre bar restaurant, with a buzzy/noisy vibe. The food was superb - the 5pm selection was fine, with modest but not stingy portions and my friends said the food was very good. I opted for a steak, not on the 5pm menu, and it was one of the best steaks I've eaten in a while (better than the steaks I've had in fancy steakhouses). However, what really made the experience so good was the fabulous service. Friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us and attentive but unhurried service. Me and my friend ended up sitting in different parts of the hotel waiting for each other, and our waiter picked this up just from overhearing my baffled phone conversation and immediately ushered me through to find my friend. They then offered to move us to a table in the quieter lounge bar, rather than the noisier bar restaurant, just because they heard us saying how nice the ambience was in the lounge. Whoever is training and managing the staff is doing a really good job.

Been here a few weeks ago on the same offer and it was amazing, so much so we were desperate to go back asap, so we did. So disappointed this time, steak was very thin, overcooked and over seasoned (very salty). Mussels were also over seasoned and the sauce too thick, although it was a very generous portion. Drinks ok but a bit pricey and service was grand. Would return in the hope that this occasion was the exception to food quality and it's normally as amazing as the first visit.
