Not far down the road you can find St Mary’s Church which provides breathtaking architecture with quiet gardens - the perfect spot for a read and lunch from one of Angel’s many cafes!

Balham is a lively district full of great bars and restaurants, independent shops and all your usual staples. The Exhibit event venue features a boutique cinema and provides a great way to spend your day while the Banana Cabaret comedy club is the perfect way to spend your evening. On top of that, Balham is also home to some of the best green spaces to take a walk in London with a host of great parks tucked behind the sleepy suburb houses.

Whether you’re in Beaconsfield for the day or a slightly longer stay, there are loads of things to do on your own or as a family. Bekonscot’s model village and railway is the oldest of its kind in the country and homes a colourful range of vehicles, shops and townsfolk while Odds Farm Park is home to loads of cute animals and has enough activities to keep the little ones occupied for hours. You can also walk the idyllic parks and gardens of Holtspur Bank or Pynesfield Lake, while the Beech House pub offers the perfect place to spend the evening in warm and comfortable surroundings after a day of exploring.

Beckenham has lots of things to see and do whether you’re stopping a day or for the weekend. Bethlem Museum of the Mind is one of its most visited spots in Beckenham and offers an extensive history of mental health and recovery along with interesting, free exhibitions of artwork and research - all housed within gorgeous Art Deco architecture. Kelsey Park offers serene surroundings for morning and afternoon walks while the Croydon Road Recreation Ground has a range of sports facilities for those who want to get a game going and a cafe for those who want to watch.

Blackheath is almost a hidden treasure, with its rolling green landscapes and historic castles seldom seen in other areas around London. Blackheath Common provides a huge open space you can walk or cycle around - perfect for the long journeys with loved ones on a sunny afternoon. Vanbrugh Park also has its own church, St John’s Blackheath, on the way to the adjoining Greenwich Park, while the Church of Ascension can be found further in and holds regular events in its function room.

Brentwood has lots of outdoor spaces to walk around and fun parks for kids to enjoy. From Old MacDonald’s Farm & Fun Park to the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, there are plenty of places to meet friendly animals while Weald and Thorndon Country Park are home to great trails to walk and incredible wildlife including wild deer. Brentwood Cathedral provides one of the town’s most prominent landmarks while the Gruffalo Trail provides the perfect activity to do as a family!

One described as “up and coming”, it’s fair to say Brixton has now established itself as one of the best places to go in South London. From the iconic Electric Avenue to the Ritzy Cinema, there are loads of attractions, not to mention a huge choice of cafes and restaurants. The area still celebrates its Caribbean roots and there is music playing regularly across Brixton Market along with the intoxicating aromas of the street food, as well as the indoor village of Pop Brixton.
