We took advantage of a 5pm offer to eat here midweek. It has to be said the surroundings are not great, pretty basic to be honest. Being a midweek evening there were few other diners which obviously affected the atmosphere. The menu is extensive with a strong Italian favour. It has to be said the starters and main courses were excellent, well prepared and presented. We were very happy with our choices. We were less happy with the wine. We chose the cheapest wine on the wine list - an Italian Merlot at £17.95 - a miserable 11%abv. It was thin, with little taste/body. I suspect the mark-up on the bottle must have been around 400% - not really acceptable and certainly not value for money. We should have spent more time considering the wine before ordering.
We enjoyed our meal, more so because of the 50% reductions on the starters and main courses courtesy of the 5pm booking. Would we have been so satisfied if we had paid the full price? I don't think so. Including the pretty awful wine we were around £40 for around an hour. If we had paid around £70, the price without the 5pm deal, we probably would have been more critical. Having saId that , the food and service were good.
