Rhubarb is over the top, a bit like Disneyland, but on the right day, and if you're in the right mood, it can be quite an experience, as it was on this occasion, the week before Christmas. Never seen so many Christmas trees in one place. The meal was the best I've had there (2 lunches & 1 dinner previously), and the service was on the whole excellent, although even with all the staff milling around we did have quite a wait after dessert to attract attention, so we could go upstairs and have our coffee. There are various menus to choose from - by arriving by 7, we saved quite a bit on the set menu. Of course, when you add on the drinks, the bill soars - but I guess all those staff and all that decor have to be paid for. It was almost £8 for a double espresso and a cappuccino, but they were accompanied by lovely petits fours. Afterwards we both agreed that it had all been worth it.
