About Salisbury Green Hotel & Bistro
The Bistro and hotel is set within the Pollock Halls part of Edinburgh University campus and next door to Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat so a great location.
We really enjoyed our Rib-Eye steaks and the chips were among the best we have ever eaten. We wouldn't have thought of having green beans with a steak but they were very good too and the wine complemented the food well.
The sticky toffee pudding wasn't really a sticky toffee pudding but it was extremely tasty.
The service was outstanding and very friendly.
Super friendly staff!
Lovely Emelise gave us a celebration card after knowing it was our special occasion meal which surprised us. The food was good and value for money. Good experience.
Modern bistro in Edinburgh’s Newington
Salisbury Green Hotel & Bistro and Lounge are part of Salisbury Green Hotel, a hotel on Pollock Halls Campus in Edinburgh’s Newington. Decked out in bright colours and with lots of natural light, both the Bistro and Lounge offer a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere in which to unwind and enjoy the food.
Locally sourced ingredients, global flavours
While the Lounge runs a global tapas menu during the day, the Bistro offers evening a la carte and set menus. What both have in common is the generous use of Scottish ingredients such as Mull cheddar, Stornoway black pudding and locally landed seafood.
The dishes offer clever examples of modern Scottish cooking. While the menus change regularly, typical starters might be the smoked haddock croquette with pickled cucumber, salad, tartare sauce and crisp potato or the grilled walnut bread with harissa hummus, char grilled peppers, artichokes and rocket salad. Main courses might be a chickpea and vegetable terrine; grilled sea bass with char grilled peppers, artichokes and baby spinach or the Scottish rib-eye steak with Lyonnais potato and green beans plus a peppercorn sauce or Café de Paris butter.
