With views overlooking The Mound and central Edinburgh, Whiski Rooms is an award-winning whisky bar, restaurant and shop on North Bank Street. Stripped stone walls and whisky-themed pictures add to the ambience, as do the daily whisky tastings. Many of the dishes can be paired with a recommended whisky and, if you like what you try, the Whiski Rooms’ shop means you can buy a bottle to take home. Cocktails, craft beers and live music in the evenings add to Whiski Rooms’ appeal.
The kitchen at Whiski Rooms happily flies the flag for Scotland’s natural larder. From Perthshire lamb and venison to Cullen skink and Loch Duart salmon, Scottish produce is to the fore. The same could be said of Scotch whisky which is used to cure salmon and flavour dishes like the haggis. There is a selection of grass-fed Scotch steaks which are dry aged for 35 days or you could opt for the East Coast haddock which comes in a coating of panko crumb and is served with chunky chips, crushed peas, lemon and tartare sauce.
The Whiski Rooms is on North Bank Street above The Mound in central Edinburgh. There is pay parking just off the Royal Mile and several major bus routes pass The Whiski Rooms. Waverley train station is a five minute walk. The historic attractions of the Royal Mile and the shops of George Street and Multrees Walk are both within a ten minute stroll.
