Tucked away down a spectacular marble staircase, The Front Page is a comfortable bar and lounge in the heart of The Scotsman Hotel. Formerly home to The Scotsman newspaper, this landmark Edinburgh building became a hotel in 2001. Lined with backlit bottles of whisky, the light and bright Front Page bar is decorated with striking black and white press photos. With deeply upholstered chairs, this is a sumptuous spot for a drink, afternoon tea or three course meal.
From the venison Scotch egg to the fish cake made with salmon and Arbroath Smokies, the headline dishes on the menu at The Front Page fly the flag for local producers. If the Isle of Arran haggis doesn’t appeal, guests could explore the lite bites selection of Caesar salads and club sandwiches. There are several afternoon teas on offer along with a Dram and Scran option. The latter pairs three different whiskies with classic Scottish dishes.
The Front Page is part of the Scotsman Hotel on North Bridge in Edinburgh city centre. Waverley train station is a two minute walk and there is car parking at the station. Numerous bus routes run past the hotel. From the Castle to the Festival Theatre and National Art Galleries, several of Edinburgh’s most significant attractions are just a short walk away.
