About Bar 50
Lively bar and kitchen in city centre
Located on the corner of Blackfriars Street and the ever lively Cowgate, Bar 50 could be the Old Town’s best kept secret. The lively bar and kitchen is a laidback place where the pool tables, live sports and occasional live music are as much of a draw as the food, beer and extensive cocktail list. The outdoor terrace is a hit whenever the sun pops out. Naturally, there are outdoor heaters for those nippier spells that are often a feature in Scotland.
Bar food favourites with international flavours
The food menu at Bar 50 is packed with popular bar classics. The menu is divided into wee plates and big plates which are complimented by selections of subs, pizza and burgers. Popular options among the wee plates include BBQ ribs, chicken wings and chilli cheese fries.
Egg-fried rice, Caesar salad, burritos and haddock in an Innis and Gunn batter make up the big plates. The burgers feature grass-fed beef from the Buccleuch estate while the 9 inch pizzas are stone baked with a freshly prepared tomato and basil sauce.
