The offer booked was the £8.50 for two courses from the 'Fixed Price' Menu deal which was a good offer considering the prices of other restaurants in the surrounding area. As the place was so quiet, we were pretty apprehensive and this was doubled with the severe restriction (three options per course - less for myself due to allergies [i.e. one per course]) of the menu. When the food came however (Smoked Salmon, Sweetcorn Soup, Fish and Chips, Pork Belly with chorizo cassoulet) , we were very pleasantly surprised. Slightly pretentious presentation but all in all, really lovely and good, sensible portions. That was all good until we got the bill and realised a small glass (and it was very small) of wine was £4.50. The food and deal itself was lovely but the drinks prices were pretty shocking. I understand it's part of a hotel and it's common practise but perhaps this is why it was so empty. The service was very quick but very friendly. Brilliant food, very (almost too) quick service, friendly staff but extortionate drinks prices. I'd watch out for that if I was on a budget!
