Located under Ryan’s Bar on Hope Street, Usquabae Whisky Bar and Larder is an atmospheric basement space with a remarkable whisky collection. The drams range from world-leading brands such as Glenfiddich and The Glenlivet, to unique single cask bottlings from long-closed distilleries such as Rosebank and Port Ellen. The staff are as knowledgeable about whisky as they are enthusiastic.

Scottish produce

At Usquabae Whisky Bar & Larder, the menu reflects the natural quality and variety of Scotland’s larder. Popular starters include the Shetland mussels steamed in tomato, garlic, herbs and white wine; the chef’s pâté and the Scottish cheese and ham platter from I.J. Mellis.
As well as fish ‘n’ chips and haggis, the main courses feature the Usquabae burger with a whisky and honey dressing. The Highland game casserole with vegetables and potatoes is a winter warmer while the pearl barley risotto with peas and asparagus is an ideal summer dish. And, of course, diners are spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting an after dinner dram.

West End Edinburgh transport

Usquabae Whisky Bar and Larder is on Hope Street at the west end of Princes Street. There is limited on-street parking and pay parking at Castle Terrace. Numerous bus services and the tram line run along the adjacent Princes Street. Haymarket and Waverley train stations are approximately a fifteen minute walk in opposite directions.
