    Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Twenty Princes Street

    Thoroughly enjoyed the WHOLE experience. Great welcome on arrival, we decided to get starters, which were so yummy. Our steak was cooked to perfection, accompanied by a lovely bottle of house wine. We ended with a cup of coffee. Our meal was at 5pm, straight after finishing work, the staff and atmosphere was outstanding. We will be back :-)

    Excellent Restaurant

    We had the £29 offer for steak and chips with a bottle of wine for 2. It was an amazing deal and the food was cooked to perfection! The service was unobtrusive, friendly and swift. Marita was our waitress. We ordered a sweet course also which was excellent. The only down side was we were given a booth near the window, which was lovely but there was a big tear in the seating which had obviously been there for some time, Marita did ask if we wished to be seated elsewhere but we declined. I would have thought that an establishment of this calibre would have ensured this would have been repaired swiftly.

Innovative Scottish restaurant in the city centre

Twenty Princes Street Grill & Smokehouse has a prime city centre position on Edinburgh’s Princes Street. Triple height windows give the first floor restaurant fantastic views over the city centre to the Castle. With oak floors, ornate ceilings and leather banquette seating, the interior is just as eye-catching. In the kitchen, the chefs use lots of Lothian-sourced ingredients to create dishes with flair.

Josper Grill menu

The menus are local and seasonal at Twenty Princes Street but some dishes are constant. The charcoal-burning Josper Grill is teamed with dry-aged Scottish beef at Twenty Princes Street to produce the restaurant’s signature steaks. Scottish shellfish are also prominent and usually treated simply as in the roast shellfish platter. Culinary influences range from the Far East to the Med while local ingredients anchor the menus.

Typical dishes might be the halibut with Scottish chanterelles, dashi broth, citrus jelly and vermicelli or the truffled gnocchi and roasted summer squash risotto. Children have their own menu at Twenty Prices Street while adults might appreciate the extensive cocktail list which can be enjoyed in the restaurant or the adjacent Juniper bar.

Twenty Princes Street Grill & Smokehouse is opposite Waverley train station; on the tram line and beside several bus stops. Taxis are plentiful. On street parking is scarce. Edinburgh Playhouse, Edinburgh Festival Theatre and several of the National Galleries of Scotland are within a brisk ten minute walk.
